Part of our philosophy is transparent collaboration.
When creating Suri’s soul we fell in Love with the typefont Miso – http://martennettelbladt.se/miso/ and decided to send a thank you note to Mårten and ask him to give a smal interview to us.
Mårten was kind enough to accept and here is what we wrote us:
You have a background in architecture, what got you interested in type design?
For as long as I can remember I’ve been interested in type design. Architecture was later…
What do you love most about your work?
I love to get obsessed with something. Finding something you just have to understand.
What is your favourite typeface (in the world)? why?
Pragmata by Fabrizio Schiavi. It’s robust, yet elegant and perfect for both screen and paper. Also it’s monospaced, which means it’s very straightforward to use.
If Miso was an emotion what emotion would that be?
How did MISO appear and where does its name come from?
It was originally a logo project. The design has it’s roots in architectural lettering and the name comes from ISO, one of the standard fonts for drawings.
What’s your favourite Suri? Why? Where would you use it?
Suri V. Among the trees, looking at the sea.
How does Suri fit Miso in your opinion?
They’re a good match!
What are your upcoming projects?
I’m publishing a little book next week about some of my geometrical explorations called “The Geometry of Bending”
Have you ever visited Portugal? If so, what did you think of it …
I’ve only spent a few days in Porto with surroundings, looking at architecture, it was fantastic!
